for the north coast streams:

Quillayute system to close to all salmon fishing completely for sports anglers. Tribe will continue to net based on insistance that the ocean is still full of fish waiting to come up.

Hoh River to go coho only for remainder of the season, river will be closed above 101 until river rises, then the upper river will open for coho only. No word on changes to tribal fishery there.

This is not official yet, but if it becomes so, pretty sad news ... we should know in a few days.

Last year, rumors were spreading like wildfire that the OP streams were going to close because of very poor returns of steelhead.

Hopefully...like the gossip last winter, this is just a rumor!

I have to agree with the state on this one.The rivers are just to low to fish.I spent last weekend on the hoh and basicly was able to walk right down the middle of it.i have never een it this low.Sat I fished the canyon up about three miles and did not even get a Dolly.Sunday I hiked cottnwood down and saw one fish roll.It does not look like there is a chance of enough rain to change things yet for a few weeks.I see enough of these idiots snagging salmon over here on the canal.I hate to hear of these same fu@# sticks soiling the west end.
